East Syracuse, New York

About 200 miles from my hometown, this was the furthest west I travelled while enrolled in college (I didn’t even make it to Syracuse or the fairgrounds). I was here to pick up posters for the Glimmerglass Festival. Most of what I saw of East Syracuse was an office park and railyard. Driving to and from it on the thruway was more fun than it should have been. I actually like driving on the New York Thruway despite how despised it is (most people probably only hate it because they drive within 100 miles of New York City where 80 mph is the minimum speed limit, I only drive on the Thruway upstate), there are so many funny random signs reminding you about the importance of tourism and New York state history. It’s also always fun to drive over the Erie Canal just west of Utica.
